It is from the intuition that our homes reveal a determining part of what we want to show about ourselves, as much as they shelter the weak signals of our secret stories that constitute us, that the series "Photographer at home" was initiated.
After having agreed together to make portraits of them, I invite the photographed subjects to choose their clothes, their hairstyle and the accessories to be exposed in the image if they wish it: the choice of their fetishes in short. And it is during this exchange that the vision they have of themselves combines with what I have perceived of their personality during our first meetings.
I generally choose the setting, guided by technical and aesthetic imperatives, but I try to intervene only minimally. The challenge is to find the right balance between interventionism and letting go. Sometimes, we agree to stage a character with what we find at hand or in the closets, with what they are. But in fine, I leave to these heroes of a moment, the decision of the gift of their modesty or their extravagance, of their real or fantasized character.
I then allow myself total freedom on the color. My material is as much this color as the reality that I interpret. And my photographic domain, if it must be defined, would be that of the poetic documentary.
All the prints are made with a traditional enlarger from black and white negatives and on baryta silver paper.
They are fully colored with watercolor ink and are published in limited editions.
